Keep it ya back pocket

Quick ditty of a post:

a few weeks ago, a head honcho from corporate office came in to give us a bit of pep talk and so on. He mentioned that you should write down your short-term goals for the year, or so, and keep those goals in your wallet and back pocket and take a look at that list every now and again, to remind yourself to stay the course, and not lose focus.

I thought this was a good idea. Well, first I asked myself: "What were my goals, again?"  I mean, I'm not talking about the New Year's resolutions we all inevitably end up breaking.

While not objective goals, I wanted to write down things that I wanted to become more mindful about, and I also wanted to focus on goals that would start a cycle of happiness and fulfillment in my life again. I think sometimes it's a vicious cycle, to be centered around career, acquiring material things, and just living the rat race in general.  I wanted to get away from that. So here's the list of things I'd like to focus on in the next 6 months:

  1. Get active. Eat right
  2. Community
  3. Nurture
  4. Random Acts of Love/Appreciation
I have to admit, I've been wallowing in my own self pity lately, not liking my job, feeling isolated from friends, not being active, not doing things that I used to love to do. I think we can all relate to these types of feelings........but I'm leaving the pity party.

What are some of your goals?
Nothing wrong with being goal-oriented, and results-driven - but let's not lose ourselves in the pursuit of those goals.

I love this post, because I too sort of feel that way.. I mean honestly I hate my job, but it pays the bills for the time being til I get my butt back in school. I too want to leave the self-pity bandwagon! Goals are always good they keep us grounded.

This is really a great post. I was the same way when I was working, and the shit storm when I moved was not pretty for a while. But I eventually let it all (well most of it, still have off days) go because your right it gets us no where and it was time to leave it alone.

Goals are the only thing keeping me motivated to make some change right now (well that and Sae) because it gives me something to strive to. To give me a reason to get something (anything) done.
